As for what one might define as a "ghost" or a "haunted area", both are common events to be encountered in the sorta quite PA town of Gettysburg. Not so 150 yrs. ago, when the battle that was later called the "turning point of the Civil War" was fought on July,1,2,3,1863. Being from North Carolina and having had about 15 or so ancestors that fought from 1861-1865, and all made it back home, with all their body parts where they were intended to be, much was , made of their "luck", though supposedly their were some women in the families, all from Scotland, that had said all who left would returned unharmed. "Witches" pronouncements?, who knows but all of them were feared, if old family records are anything nearly accurate. I got involved in the interest in the Civil War, with the help of certain family members who had tales of visiting battlegrounds and seeing "things", well, not quite "normal". Which was all I needed, plus transportation, to as many of the "killing fields" as I could visit over the summer vacation from school. Visit them I did but none were more impressive than 2 in NC, small when compared to Fredricksburg,VA, and Gettysburg,PA. Both have "ghosts", no one doubts that, the ones at Gettysburg are more "in your face" types and are just as active in the day as at night and not just "held" in the battlefield area either. The town has its share, as do some favored building of the local college, hotels, motels, a parking lot or two, and just "seen" walking about the town, though those missing arms, legs, a head or two, would be obvious but not unusual or so I have been told. met ghost have I? Oh, yes, and then some but I'll cite more specific later but cite them I will.
